Dr. Quinonez was born in El Salvador and immigrated to Canada as a teenager. He received his medical degree from the University of Manitoba in 1993. He completed residencies in General Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery, and Cardiac Surgery in Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeon of Canada and has certified in all three specialties. Dr. Quinonez went on to do an advanced adult cardiac surgery fellowship at the Mayo Clinic and a cardiac transplantation and assist devices fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. His congenital cardiac surgery training followed at the University of Alberta Stollery Children’s Hospital, where he remained as an attending staff. After pursuing a training opportunity at Boston Children’s Hospital in 2012, he stayed on as an attending cardiac surgeon, where he is part of the Neonatal and Coronary Artery Programs.
